God With Us!
.
“Emmanuel, God with us!” is the cry of our hearts as we celebrate Christmas. The miracle of God becoming a man and dwelling among us fills every believer with a sense of awe and makes even the youngest heart beat in time with the angelic carols that herald the birth of the great “I AM.”
This category of dramatic literature features Realistic Skits, Story Time Theaters, Christmas Madrigal Dinner Theaters, and a full-length Christian Play, all celebrating the miraculous incarnation of God!
Christmas Skits are short dramatic sermon illustrations of one of life’s revelation moments. In these Christmas Skits, we are admonished to “slow down and simplify,” so that we focus on the “manger,” not the “danger” of Christmas. “The Christmas Story” is a Story Time Theater script featuring the pantomime, storytelling talents of two mimes, a Story Lady, and a pianist, who improvises music during the story. The mimes act out the events of the Christmas story as the Story Lady reads from the Gospel of Luke. The entire family loves this art form. A Heartfelt Christmas is a full-length Christmas Play that celebrates “God with us,” by creating an evening at the theater, hosted by your drama ministry.Christmas Madrigal Dinner Theater scripts are trips back in time. Twelve singers dress in 16th century, English costumes and herald in the Christmas season with a harmonious concert of traditional, a-cappella carols. A troupe of the “King’s players” join the Court and present a traditional play that dates back to the time of Medieval and Renaissance European literature. The guests are seated at festively decorated tables ready to enjoy a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings: the Wassail, (hot apple cider) the “boar’s head” (prime rib) and Figgie Pudding (bread pudding.) The King’s Jester serves as the “Master of Ceremonies” for the evening, as he delights and surprises the audience with toasts, jokes, and comic asides. All of these Christmas plays and skits portray God’s love and God’s presence in the life of the believer.
