Remaining spiritually focused on Christ at Christmas is the theme of this skit. At church, poor Cindy barely gets the Christmas story read. Her cell phone rings, her son switches car keys, and her other two kids announce that the Christmas tree fell through the window. -
Harvey has a "secret time" of regular prayer and Bible study. Pastor Rufus explains to the characters that having a regular time of prayer and Bible study is a great way to grow as Christians. -
Befriending Jesus is the challenge of this volume. The children are introduced to the people Jesus befriended: Nicodemus, Zaccheus, Peter, the leper, the little children, James and John, the boy with the fish, Judas, and Saul/Paul. The children are challenged with the question, "Am I a friend of Jesus?" -
Jesus said, "Blessed are the gentle." In this Skit Package, Zelda's ungentle use of karate exemplifies the contrast between a gentle person and a non-gentle person is clearly shown along with the results of the two. -
Jesus said, "Blessed Are The Peacemakers." Being peaceful is sometimes very difficult. Bringing peace to others is always rewarding. By making peace, Harvey learns that those who make peace please God so much that He is proud to call them sons and daughters. -
Jesus said, "Blessed are the persecuted." Harvey receives persecution from the other characters because he doesn't want to do something that he knows wouldn't please God. Pastor Rufus supports Harvey's decision and tells Harvey that it is far better to stand up for what you know God would want you to do rather than go along with the crowd and disobey Him. -
Jesus said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness." Harvey understands that Jesus wants us to want to help others as much as we want to eat or drink! “The new Harvey” helps others as he tries to strongly desire to please God in all that he says and does. -
Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn."The characters experience being sad because they aren't perfect. Pastor Rufus challenges them to "be perfect" by offering them T-shirts if they are perfect. They realize that we are incapable of living the Christian life on their own merit or power. They need God’s forgiveness and the indwelling power of His Spirit. -
The faithfulness and self-control of the Apostles even after they had been flogged and imprisoned, gives Clem new confidence to be "faithful" and stand up for her faith at school. Harvey learns an embarrassing lesson about "self-control" when his parents hire a babysitter for him and Tina because they can't trust him. -
Finding and being a friend is important to God. The characters discover the power of friendship as they work hard to recover from the hurt caused by words. -
Through a study of the book of Acts, the children are introduced to the ministry of the Holy Spirit as He empowers the life of the believer. Clem becomes a Christian, and the “fruit,” or results, of the Holy Spirit’s presence in her life, provides opportunities for the children to learn what it means to have “Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, Goodness, and Self-control” in our daily lives. -
Clem's teacher wants to learn more about God because of Clem's decision to stand up for God. When Harvey rescues some baby birds, he learns that gentleness and goodness are two "fruit" of the Holy Spirit that go together. -
This skit focuses on the relationship between God and man. In this introduction to the book of Proverbs, Zelda learns the value of obedience and respect. She understands that the "fear of the Lord" is the beginning of wisdom. -
God's plan for the family is clear and strong! A family is people living together, respecting each other, using kind words, doing their jobs joyfully, and loving each other. Zelda is now a Christian and a part of God's Heavenly family as well. -
God's will is sovereign. The characters discover that an answered prayer is not necessarily a “Yes” answer to our requests; “No” is an answer, too. Our job as Christians is to trust Him and learn to ask for “His Will” and not ours. -
In this skit the characters learn the meaning of wisdom. They learn that fearing, or respecting God, is the beginning of wisdom. -
Harvey is very unhappy when his new fishing pole turns out to be broken, but he learns that "joy" means having hope that something wonderful will happen. Tina is disappointed because she can't wear her new dress to the Mother-Daughter Tea with her mom. She learns that "patience" is waiting for things to happen. Pastor Rufus tells the story of Peter's "joy" in the Lord, and the "patience" of the early church as they prayed for Peter's release in Acts 12:5-17. -
"Love for others" is a powerful "fruit" of the Spirit. The characters learn that "Agape" love is doing what is best for others, even if it is hard for you to do. They all decide to show that kind of love to the people in the homeless shelter. Clem and Harvey give up their valuable things, but Zelda and Tina are selfish; they give old stuff that they don't want anymore. -
Peace and kindness are two powerful "fruit" of the Holy Spirit. Tina gives Harvey an "Action Hero" cape, and calls him "Spirit Boy." Harvey's act of kindness came after Pastor Rufus told them the story of Paul and Silas in Acts 16: 23-34. Harvey was inspired to show his love to Tina in a powerful way. -
Prayer and Bible study are two powerful tools to grow spiritually. God wants us to pray prayers for courage. In this Skit Package, Zelda and Harvey unsuccessfully try to calm Tina down about going to the dentist. Finally, Pastor Rufus helps everyone remember that our “secret weapon” against fear is praying to God for courage. -
Jesus encourages us to pray prayers of guidance. Pastor Rufus has an important decision to make: will he go to work full-time as a maintenance man and quit being a children's pastor? The characters learn how to ask God for guidance. -
Jesus taught us to pray prayers for others. Harvey, Zelda, and Tina pray for Pastor Rufus as he makes some decisions about his job. Clem needs prayer support as she makes a difficult decision. The children learn that God wants us to pray for each other and encourage each other to pray for God's will. -
"The Bible carrying out your Father's plan" is the deep message that Pastor Rufus uses to explain why he can't install a tether-ball pole in a small patch of grass because that is where his own dad wanted to build a greenhouse. -
The Bible is the inspired word of God. The characters learn the meaning of "inspiration" as Clem helps Harvey write his acceptance speech for winning the "Citizenship Award." Pastor Rufus explains that the Bible was "inspired" by God. -
The foolish person doesn't please God. In this study of Proverbs, the characters become aware of their own foolish tendencies, and ask God for help in being wise. -
God is not happy with lazy sluggards. The "solution" for being a sluggard is a personal relationship with Jesus that helps you do your best, and gives you the help of the Holy Spirit when you are tempted to put things off. -
The children learn how to live a missionary life, and what a missionary does as they watch Clem and her family prepare to go to the mission field. The "call," the emotional leaving, the home "support team," the letters, and the joys and pains of missionary work all challenge the children to actively serve God. Tina learns that you don't have to leave home to be a missionary when she leads her friend to Lord. -
After a power-outage, Pastor Rufus explains that the Holy Spirit is the third part of God that gives believers the power to live victorious Christian lives. Clem becomes a Christian and learns that the Holy Spirit will help her produce "fruit" (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness, and self-control) that will show others that she is a Christian. -
The use of words is critical to God. The characters struggle with words that hurt. Pastor Rufus explains that their feelings about the dangerous effects of words are God's feelings that He expresses in Proverbs. After the characters realize what has happened with their use of words, they apologize and make up. -
The characters experience the fact that gratefulness is the foundational motivation for worshiping God. In this Skit Package, special emphasis is placed on singing as a form of worship. -

In this Skit Package, Harvey and Tina's family experience "bad" things. Harvey doesn't get picked to be on the baseball team; Tina gets very sick; the family can't pay their bills; their car breaks, and their dad loses his job. Dad shares a message of hope from the scriptures and tells the family to worship God even during “bad” times. -
Giving God our tithes and offerings is very personal. Pastor Rufus helps the children understand the concept of giving gifts "from your heart to the Lord" is a great way to worship God. -
Your actions can be a form of worship to God. Doing what we know God wants us to do, and not doing what He tells us not to do is a great way to honor God.
