Vol. 10 – Promises of God

Skit Package 1: “God Promises To Forgive Our Sins” (Rom. 6:23; John 3:16; 1John 1:9; IPeter 3:18; Eph. 1:7)

Pastor Rufus’ idea to let the characters experience God’s forgiveness by taking them to the courthouse, works even better than he planned! During the tour, Tina makes an emotional confession and they all get locked inside a jail cell. They will never forget how it feels to be forgiven! We emphasize the gift of forgiveness through belief in Jesus Christ.

Skit Package 2: “God Promises Us Eternal Life” (John 3: 16; I John 5: 13; John 5: 24)

Instead of going to the zoo, the characters find themselves in the middle of a funeral at the church. As they “spy” on Pastor Rufus and listen, they learn about God’s promise of eternal life. They realize that what they do while they are alive effects what happens after they die! We emphasize the gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ.

Skit Package 3: “God Promises To Answer Our Prayers” (Phil. 4:6,7; Jn. 15:7; Lk. 22:42; 2Cor. 12:7-10)

The characters finally get to go to the zoo. While at the zoo, they learn about the zookeeper’s love and concern for the animals. Pastor Rufus helps them see the similarities between the zookeeper and God after the zookeeper stops Tina from feeding the seals her candy bar. We learn that God knows what’s best for us, and that our prayers are sometimes answered with a “no.”

Skit Package 4: “God Promises Us The Holy Spirit” (Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 12:7-12; 13:13; Lk. 11:11)

On a field trip to a local power station, the characters learn about God’s promise to give us power, comfort and wisdom through His Holy Spirit. Tina gets lost, and the rest of the group experiences the Holy Spirit’s help as they look for her. We emphasize that we were not meant to live a victorious Christian life all on our own, but that the Holy Spirit dwells in us to enable us to commune with God and witness to the world.

Skit Package 5: “God Promises To Be With Us Always” (Matthew 28: 19, 20; Psalm 139: 7-12)

Pastor Rufus acts as a “tour guide” as we visit each of the characters as they experience God’s presence when they are scared or lonely; when they have done wrong; and in the good times too!
